US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is due to visit Doha in the coming days to meet with Emir Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani.
The US State Department says that Pompeo will lead the US delegation at the 2nd US-Qatar Strategic Dialogue in Doha. The 1st meeting was held in January 2018 in Washington.
Pompeo will also meet with Qatari leaders to discuss regional issues and stress “the importance of a united GCC in standing against the Iranian regime’s destabilizing activity”.
On the other hand, there is talk about the possibility of Pompeo proposing a partial removal of the US-led blockade imposed on Qatar since June 2017.
