UAE: Sheikh Mohammad seeks accession to power this yearnote

There is talk that Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan is angling to achieve full transition of power from UAE President Sheikh Khalifa this year.

This comes as Sheikh Khalifa’s health, which had been steady for a period of time, has gotten shakier since the end of the year.

However, several half-brothers of Sheikh Mohammad are questioning why he is now in a hurry to succeed, especially that he is acting as Ruler of Abu Dhabi for over a decade.
