Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi is said to be receiving significant pressure from Italian defense companies, including Fincantieri and Leonardo, to do his best to repair Italy’s military relations with the UAE.
This comes following the UAE's recent decision to evict Italian aircraft and personnel from the Al Minhad Air Base in Dubai, in response to the arms embargo imposed by Italy on the UAE in January.
In this regard, there is talk that senior executives from Fincantieri have proposed to have French officials mediate between Rome and Abu Dhabi to resolve the Emirati-Italian dispute.
