Earlier this month (12/8/21), the US Navy’s USS Monterey (CG-61) guided-missile cruiser visited Egypt’s Berenice Naval Base, which is located on the Red Sea coast.
During the visit, the ship hosted Commander of the Egyptian Naval Force (ENF) Vice Admiral Ahmed Khaled and US Commander of the United States Naval Forces Central Command (NAVCENT), the United States Fifth Fleet (C5F), and the Combined Maritime Forces (CMF) Vice Admiral Brad Cooper.
In this regard, there is talk that this visit comes as a prelude for a strategic Egyptian-US naval agreement.
What would such an agreement include?
