Iraqi Minister of Finance Ali Allawi resigned on Wednesday (17/8/2022) amid an unabating political crisis.
Following Allawi’s resignation, Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi assigned Oil Minister Ihsan Abdul-Jabbar to run the finance ministry.
Before his resignation, Allawi is said to have met with Iraqi Shia cleric and leader of the Sadrist Movement Muqtada Al-Sadr, who had previously asked PM Al-Kadhimi to postpone any arms deal until the formation of a new government.
Tactical Report has prepared a 285-word report to shed more light on the effects the resignation of Allawi might have on pending Iraqi arms deals, notably with France.
