Qatar on Iran-Israel Face Off: Concerns of a crisis worse than 2017 blockadenote

Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Bin Abdulrahman Al Thani believes that the military confrontations between Iran and Israel could be more severe to Qatar than the 2017 blockade.

The U.S. Department of State acknowledged the possibility that Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the Houthis could attempt to block the Straits of Hormuz and Bab El-Mandeb, respectively.

In this regard, Qatari Emir Tamim expressed concerns towards the Israeli-Iranian standoff.

The note provides a comprehensive overview of the following aspects:

- Doha’s transcending concerns about the Gulf region if the Hormuz Strait is blocked

- Emir Tamim’s request to GCC leaders

- His views on the chances of de-escalation

The note also highlights actions Emir Tamim relies on to prevent the Middle East from descending into a full-scale war.
