This came as part of Hussein’s efforts to seek the return of funds paid by the regime of the late Iraqi President Saddam Hussein to Italian defense companies Leonardo and Fincantieri for the purchase of military weapons. These weapons were never delivered due to the 1991 embargo on the sale of weapons to Iraq.

Tactical Report has prepared a 455-word report to shed more light on this subject and on Italy's reaction to Hussein's proposals.
