Last Tuesday (15/6/21), Saudi Defense Attaché at the Saudi Embassy in Madrid Colonel Saleh Al-Ghufaili paid a visit to Spanish shipbuilder Navantia’s shipyard in the port city of Cartagena, to examine the specifications and capabilities of Navantia’s Isaac Peral S-81-class submarine.
Meanwhile, there is talk that ever since Saudi Arabia and Navantia signed a deal in 2018 for the purchase of 5 Avante 2200-class corvettes in favor of the Royal Saudi Naval Forces (RSNF), the Spanish Ministry of Defense has made constant efforts to market the S-81 submarine.
Is the Saudi Ministry of Defense interested in acquiring this submarine?
