Saudi Arabia: Dismissing Iranian claims of naval alliancenote

Amid efforts to follow up on the implementation of the Beijing agreement, recent statements of Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Shahram Irani surprised Riyadh.

Rear Admiral Irani announced last Friday (2/6/2023) that Iran will form a joint naval alliance with several countries, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, and Iraq.

This announcement did not sit well with the Kingdom.

Tactical Report has prepared a report (342 words) to highlight this matter, including:

- The position of Saudi Minister of Defense Prince Khaled Bin Salman regarding this announcement

- The positions of the Commander of the Royal Saudi Naval Forces (RSNF) Admiral Fahd Al-Ghufaili and Chief of Staff of the Saudi Armed Forces General Fayyadh Al-Ruwaili

- The efforts of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to clarify the aforementioned statement

- Riyadh’s reaction to the Iranian clarification

The report also highlights the Kingdom’s priorities in cooperating with Iran.
