Kuwait: Concerns about the government as political crisis worsensnote

Kuwaiti Emir Meshaal Al-Ahmad issued a decree on 8/9/2024, accepting the resignation of Deputy Prime Minister and Oil Minister Emad Al-Atiqi and appointing Finance Minister Nora Suleiman Al-Fassam as the acting Oil Minister.

This was shortly after signing a decree on 25/8/2024 to reshuffle Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al Sabah's government.

In this regard, opposition within the Al Sabah family against Emir Meshaal continues as the political and economic crisis worsens.

The following note highlights:

- Emir Meshaal’s stance on the government

- The future of the government as perceived by several Al Sabah members

- His rivals’ position on his handling of the ongoing political situation

- The key figure behind the opposition

The note also highlights the suggestions of key Al Sabah figures to Emir Meshaal to take action as soon as possible.
