Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi issued a republican decree appointing Rear Admiral Ashraf Ibrahim Atwa, commander of the Egyptian Navy, last Tuesday (14/12/2021).
Rear Admiral Ibrahim Atwa succeeded Lieutenant-General Ahmed Khaled Said, who was appointed commander of the Strategic Command and supervisor of military industrialization with the rank of deputy minister.
A seasoned and highly-decorated professional, Rear Admiral Ibrahim Atwa held nearly all leadership positions in the Egyptian Navy, and served as commander of the South Fleet, which is responsible for defending the Red Sea and the Suez Canal. He has a clear vision of the Egyptian Navy’s procurement and modernization strategy.
